Waverly CUSD#6 Return to Learn 2021-22 Summary

Maintaining the Health and Safety of Students, Educators, and Other Staff

In accordance with the Illinois State Superintendent of Schools 2021 July 9 declaration, Waverly Community Unit School District #6 will be open fully for in-person learning for all student attendance days for the 2021-22 school year. Remote instruction will only be made available for non-vaccinated or vaccine ineligible students who are under quarantine as directed by the local health department or the Illinois Department of Public Health.

School Return Overview:

●  All passengers and drivers must wear a mask on school buses.

●  A driver does not need to wear a mask if they are the only person on the bus.

●  ANY student who is on a remote-only learning plan must have a medical doctor’s excuse. Generally, remote learning will be temporarily available if a student is under quarantine and not eligible for a vaccine.

●  Temperature checks and symptom screenings will be taken during the morning bus routes or upon entering school.

●  Parents should keep their children home from school if they are sick or exhibiting symptoms.

●  Good hand hygiene will be strongly encouraged at all grade levels.

●  Social distancing will be maintained in all school areas to the greatest extent feasible.

●  Buildings will continue to undergo increased cleaning/sanitation.

●  Student meals will be free for the 2021-2022 school year in accordance with USDA reimbursements.

●  Students will be issued 1:1 individual devices (Chromebooks or IPads) for school use.

●  Students PreK thru 1st grade will not be issued a device for the home. We will provide packet/school work drop-off and pick-up options.

●  Athletic programs will run as normal with full activity fees charged and admission charged at indoor, home sporting events. The district will be prepared to adjust educational and athletic programming as necessary throughout the year.

●  Field trips and fundraisers will resume as normal following CDC and IDPH Guidelines

●  Locker rooms will be utilized for PE and students in 7th-12th grades will wear required PE uniforms. 

Masks are required under the Illinois Governor's Executive Order 85. Mask use is recommended outdoors during activities (e.g., participating in outdoor play, recess, physical education, sports, extracurricular activities) that involve sustained close contact with other people who are not fully vaccinated, particularly in areas of substantial to high transmission.
