Welcome to Waverly Community Unit School District #6

The city of Waverly, founded in 1836, is the second largest city in Morgan County, with nearly 1300 residents. Waverly is located 90 miles north of St. Louis, 210 miles south southwest of Chicago, and 30 miles southwest of Springfield.

Waverly Community Unit School District No. 6 is a public school district located in Waverly, Illinois. The entire school District population is currently 348 students PreK through grade 12 (349 students enrolled in 2021; 362 students enrolled 2020).

The student demographics of Waverly School District include: 94% of students identify as white; 51% report as Low Income (7% increase from 2021); 19% Individualized Education Programs (4% increase from 2021);  6% report as homeless (2% increase from 2021) and 12% mobility rate reported in 2021.

Nineteen (19) percent of students have chronic absenteeism with 11 percent of those students being chronically truant in the 2020-21 school year.  Waverly currently has a 2 percent drop out rate.

PK, K-12 with a student-teacher ratio of 14 to 1 in the 2020-21 school year. There are 38 full-time teachers in the Waverly School District, 11 paraprofessionals, 3 clerical staff, and 3 administrators.

Both the Waverly Junior/Senior High and Elementary School are rated as commendable.
